  • The purpose of this guidance is to give information about the Health and Care Visa. A subset of the skilled worker visa is the health and care visa. This guideline became effective on February 15, 2021.

  • The government promised to implement a "Health and Care Visa" for licensed physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals with good working English proficiency and training that meets accepted standards. 
  • Fast-track immigration, lower visa costs, and committed support to enter the UK with their families are advantages for these professionals. 
  • Furthermore, applicants for the Health and Care Visa, as well as their dependent family members, are not required to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge, as the Prime Minister declared on May 21, 2020. 
  • This offer is included in the path for skilled workers. On August 4, 2020, the Health and Care Visa went into effect.

Eligibility Criteria to Get Health & Care Visa in the U.K

  1. The Health and Care Worker visa is available to qualified physicians, nurses, healthcare workers, and adult social workers.
  2. Applicants seeking entrance clearance or permanent residence under the skilled worker route may do so if they plan to accept a job offer in any of the professions listed in a list of Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes.
  3. You need to know your occupation's four-digit occupation code in order to find out if it qualifies. You should inquire about the occupation code from your employer if you have already received a job offer.

Relevant Criteria to Get Health & Care Visa for a Skilled Worker

The Immigration Rules' Appendix Skilled Worker contains certain standards, which include the following for applicants:

  • Work for a UK company that the Home Office has authorised.
  • Possess a "certificate of sponsorship" from their company detailing the position they have been offered in the United Kingdom.
  • Perform a task from the list of acceptable jobs.
  • Get a minimum wage, the amount of which is determined by the applicant's kind of work.
  • Possess the necessary proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.

Health & Care Visa: Employer Requirements

  • In the Certificate of Sponsorship, the employer must provide a concise justification of how the employee satisfies the eligibility condition for the Health and Care Visa.
  • In order for the candidate to properly fill out the visa application form, the employer must also let them know if they qualify for the Health and Care Visa.
  • In cases when an employer is a service provider for the NHS, proof of the contract between the employer and the NHS may be required in order for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) to deem an applicant qualified to submit a Health and Care Visa application.
